XP Pro would not plug & play with my HP eHome infrared receiver, even though HP says that it
should. I tried for hours to find a driver via Internet searches. I finally resorted to the sledge
hammer approach and forced a manual driver install. Still MCE didn’t work.
Installed IR server Suite - test build 1.4.2.4068 as a server per recommendation
MediaPortal Configuration:
On plugin screen, selected MP Control Plugin for IR Server and configured for Microsoft
MCE.
On remote screen, checked ‘Use Microsoft MCE remote’.
IR Server Configuration:
Configured for Microsoft MCE remote.
Received the following error message after closing configuration window:
‘IR Server Configuration encountered a problem and needs to close.’
Discovered that select remote buttons don’t work in MP.
Launching the Debug Client from the IR Server tray, determined that the following buttons are
not being responding; Up, Down, Left, Right, OK, Volume up & down, Mute, 1 thru 0, and
Enter.
All buttons work in Vista, so I know that it’s not the remote or the receiver. Could the above
error message and the dead button problem be related? Could it be a driver problem? The
following drivers are installed: hidclass.sys, hidir.sys, hidparse.sys, and hid.dll.
