    Hi,

I am using different filesystem folders to store longplayer and sampler. All my music is tagged quite well and I really like to use database views. However, it's hard to define views that work well for BOTH longplayer and sampler.
So, is there a way to have seperate DBs or views for both kinds of music?

Right no I am filtering album-views by albumartist<>"various artists". However this fails if a sampler really has an albumartist for example the DJ who made the compilation. Plus "albumartist" isn't even a standard ID3v2 field.
Is there some other field that could be used to seperate longplayer from sampler/compilations? I believe iTunes uses a field called "is_compilation" or something like this. But how to check this in music views?

    Cheers

    OK, I can't set up music-views properly.

What I would want in the end is this:

Level 1: Album sorted by Albumartists (where albumartist <> various%)
Level 2: Title sorted by Track-No.

    Is this possible?

    Cheers

No there is only a single music database

Sort of. Album Artist is just a name (which seeming used by most music players). Just about everything links this to the TPE2 ID3 tag (which is defined as band)

Is compilation is not stored in the database so not available in views.

Yes this is possible quite simply, check Music Views * - MediaPortal Wiki for how to add a restriction to your views
