Well here goes. I have been trying to find a way to pipe TV through my HTPC for quite some time and control everything with one remote (MS remote) and I have had no success. I currently subscribe with Bell Expressvu and had attempted to IR blast it through my Haupage WinTV card. I was able to get the video piped through but it looked like it was dated video feed (old) and could not figure out how to control the EPG in MediaPortal through the MS remote.

I have dabbled with FTA in the last year or so and would like to my a new attempt to configure MediaPortal to control FTA through an EPG and the MS remote. I have searched through threads and seen that many have been successful in that type of setup but I was unable to find some form of walkthrough documentation.

My questions are:

1. What would you recommend for a DVB-S card?
2. Where can I find a good supplier to buy such a card?
3. Where can I find documentation or some form of walkthrough to setting up FTA with MediaPortal with a working EPG and use the MS remote?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

1. I am just setting up my first HTPC so I can't speak from experience, but my research has lead me to purchase a SkyStar 2 card. I have also heard good things about the FloppyDTV S2 card, but it connects to a firewire port via cable which just seems odd.

2. I purchased the SkyStar from DVB Master and received it in a few days, but I live in Canada which is where the supplier is located.

3. GBPVR or MediaPortal - Satellite and FTA Forums. It appears that programming DVB-S cards is considered sacred and anyone who talks openly about it will be struck by a bolt of lightning. O crap, the sky is clouding over.
