Synopsis: I installed 0.2 and without executing it upgraded to 0.2.0.4. I then started the setup and did my choice. Then I tried to start MediaPortal mut it comes out with a FileNotFoundException. I'm no more able to start the setup too. I need to delete the MediaPortal.xml and the capturecards.xml to have the setup start again but no joy with the main MediaPortal application.

the language\Italian\strings.xml file seems to be broken.
replace it with the attached xml

For a stupid error I was running Directx 7 instead of 9.0c.
Once upgraded the error in strings.xml was not reproducible.

I think that developpers would do a great thing in adding a directx version control during installation and block it if not compliant.

1. uninstall MediaPortal
2. delete MediaPortal folder
3. run windowsupdate
4. run windowsupdate again until all updates have been installed
5. make sure all drivers are up to date
6. install MediaPortal 0.2.0.0
7. apply latest stable patch

seems to work now...the issues where finally two:

directx 7.0
too low in memory


I think that you should review those parameters during install, so everybody would be warned before installing and loosing time on top of asking all over the asme questions...

Well, they are clearly stated in the System Requirements, I believe. A warning when installing wouldn't hurt, I guess.

Yes they are, but you can always forget checking on a new system...this is not the first time I install MediaPortal: the first time I checked everything carefully, this time I forgot to go to windowsupdate on my friend's machine before installing.

A warning message would be of great help for all blind users like me and for newbie.
