Shared Database (1 Viewer)

Greetings Media Portal Users,

Currently, I'm using the default MP movie database. MP accesses movie information and thumbnails from a shared drive on my network. I have it setup like this so that I only have to update one database for multiple MP-clients.

My question is, How can I go about importing my current database into MovingPictures, and still keep the shared database configuration?

You are probably looking for this guide. Basically you need to make sure your settings folder (containing all databases artwork, etc) is located on a network drive and is mapped to the same location on all systems.

You should be aware though that Moving Pictures is not designed to have multiple instances connected to the same database so you should be very careful. it will be easy to corrupt your database so at the very least you should backup frequently. What you want to be careful of is adding new movies when more than one instance of Moving Pictures is running.

Also, for what it's worth, we do plan on officially supporting a multi-seat setup in the future. This doesn't help you know, but just be aware that we plan on developing a better solution to this problem.
