Hi everyone!

I have a question, and not so much a problem, about sharing "played files" information between multiple computers running Mediaportal 1.0

I have 3 computers through out my house all running Windows XP and Mediaportal. They all work flawlessly. I also have a Netgear NAS with videocontent. This NAS in mounted on each of the computers as drive z:

When I watch an episode of a tv-series on one of the computers the file of course gets marked as viewed, but I want this information to be stored on the NAS and accesible to the two other computers as well. This way, when I turn on another computer to continue viewing the next episode, I can clearly see which episode I watched last.

Is this possible? Can MP refer to a file on the NAS with this "played files" information?

Thank you all for your help, and a big thank you to Team Mediaportal for some great software!

You need to create a centralized place for your database files (including tvseries).
See this page in manual.

Thank you Rekenaar,

I've gone through the article you referred to and have copied the edited MediaportalDirs.xml to two of the computers. It doesn't seem to work though. I started to watch a videofile on one computer, stopped 3minutes in and switched the computer off. I then turned on the other computer, started up Mediaportal but the file looked as it had never been played.

I've double checked that the paths are correct and accesible on both computers, and they are.

When I look in the database folder (the shared folder located on the NAS) the file doesn't seem to have been updated (looking at date and time) but neither has the file under all users/application data/team mediaportal/mediaportal/database and this seems quite strange, or am I missing something?

EDIT: The files don't seem to have been updated After viewing the videofile. They have been updated with the new remote paths.

The guide is also from a couple of months back, so maybe there's been an update in the later versions?

Kind regards,

Works fine now.

There was a lookup error on one of the machines, when I replaced the server adress with the static IP instead everything started working.

Thank you!
