I don't use the TV server function. I just use mediaportal to play music and movies ripped to a hard drive. At the moment I have roughly 1000 movies saved. I'm using "moving pictures".

My almost 1000 movies comes out to be about 87 pages to scroll through when choosing a movie to watch. If I know I want to watch Zombieland, I have to scroll through all 87 pages to get there. Even using the page down, the 2 seconds to page down each time means about 3 minutes just to get to the movie.

I've had several versions of MP in the past and I recall a previous version that would allow that when I'm in a list, I can press a key on the keyboard and it would jump to that point in the list. For example, pressing the "Z" key would put me directly on the first movie with a title beginning with "Z".

Also, I recall a setting where the numbers on my remote could be used to do much the same thing. "9999" corresponded to "WXYZ" so the first press of 9 would land me on the first "W" movie, the second would land me on "X" and so forth.

The current version doesn't seem to allow this. I have looked for the same setting I remember for the remote and found nothing. It was a checkbox I believe. The keyboard shortcuts worked by default.....even in Moving Pictures while now they don't work in either Moving Pictures or the original "Videos" menu item.

Is it possible to get that functionality back? Or is it lost in the current versions?

First off I would say having large lists is a bad idea and you would be better off browsing by genre, year etc....

But anyway the ability to jump to somewhere in the list based on the numeric input is still there. If this is not working in moving pictures then you need to raise that in the moving pictures forum

Thanks. But remember that this is a problem when looking for a specific movie. With the year filter I then have to remember the year a movie was made. No help really. My mind isn't that good. Genre helps a bit. If I choose sci-fi I can drop that from 87 pages to 37, Drama from 87 to 66, etc. But that's still a long list especially since I'm adding more movies daily.

But it's not working in the regular videos section either so it has to be something other than Moving Pictures. I'll post over there too as there may be a fix in Moving Pictures and it won't really matter if the regular videos folder doesn't work right, but I'm suspecting there is something else at play or it wouldn't be a problem in both.
