Should I make the switch to MP? (1 Viewer)

I'm currently using Windows Media Center on Windows 7 on 3 HTPC's hooked up to 3 different TV's in the house. Lately they've started acting a bit 'squirley' and I'm starting to look to see what other options there are out there. We use them for 4 or 5 different things, but we use them constantly, so I need something that just works without too much hassle after I set everything up. We do the following:

  • Watch/Record Over the Air HDTV (Using Avermedia AverTVHD Duet Tuners)
  • Watch Netflix Streaming
  • Watch Video files from a File Share on another Windows Machine
  • Play Music files from a File Share on another Windows Machine
  • Occasionally Watch DVD's
  • Occasionally Watch Hulu
  • Control everything with a Remote Control
That's pretty much it...so, should I give Mediaportal a shot? Will it do everything we need?

Watch/Record Over the Air HDTV (Using Avermedia AverTVHD Duet Tuners)
MP brings its own TV server which means that you install the server in one place with all tv cards in it and stream to all pcs in the house.
Alternatively there is the ForTheRecord TV server which is similar with some features more or less.

Watch Netflix Streaming
Don't know Netflix.

Watch Video files from a File Share on another Windows Machine
No problem just choose the shares in your Video section in MP

Play Music files from a File Share on another Windows Machine
Same like with video shares.

Occasionally Watch DVD's
Totally no problem.

Occasionally Watch Hulu
Don't know if Hulu is integrated in the OnlineVideos plugin which is responsible for online streaming services.

Control everything with a Remote Control
No problem if you have a supported remote.
One of these: http://wiki.team-mediaportal.com/1_...asics/03_Navigation/1_Remote?highlight=remote
i.e. Harmony, MCE remote, X10, ...
