Everything was working great and then Comcast messed everything up. Long story short I need to re-setup MediaPortal again. I followed the same tutorial I did before but for some reason its not working this time. When I scan for channels it sasys "out-of-band connection information...signal locked, no channels found" . It appears that this has something to do with the firewall but I have done eveything I know to allow mediaportal through the firewall. I even turned the firewall off just to see if it would work but nothing has worked thus far. Any ideas? Perahps I way to check if my firewall it set correctly. I have Win 8. I'm using Kodi as well. Thank you for your help.

    Hello 5n4r35

In this case I'm unable to offer any help without log files.

Can you please use the watchdog tool (link in your start menu or on your desktop) with option 3 ("export...") to collect your log files into a convenient zip file, then attach the zip file here ("upload a file").

    Regards,
    mm

    Thanks (y)

I see what you mean about no channels found. However, I don't think this has anything to do with your firewall. I say that because TV Server is getting partial lineup information from your tuner/CableCARD. It just isn't getting a crucial piece of information known as the virtual channel table.

Can you tell me about Comcast and what they did to mess up? ...because I think that this issue may well be something to do with them.
Also, do you have a tuning adaptor/resolver (TA/TR)? (This would be something you'd have had to connect to the USB connection on your tuner.)

    Regards,
    mm

I don't have a tuning adapter of any kind. Comcast had me setup in the wrong DAC. Don't know how this happened. I know they just id a channel re-alignment so perhaps it has something to do with that. But since I'm setup in the proper DAC and I can receive signals from the headend everything should work. Currently I have ServerWMC running and it works fine. Only problem is it is dependent on WMC. For some reason Guide data wont load in WMC not to mention Microsoft will eventually stop supporting WMC so I'd like to move away from it. Any other question?

    Yeah, what's a DAC?
(Sorry for asking what may be an obvious question. I'm based in New Zealand, and we don't have CableCARDs here... and most people have satellite or digital terrestrial TV rather than cable).

A DAC or Digital Addressable Controller is used in digital cable to tell the cablebox what channels it gets. Might be used in Satellite but I've only worked with cable do I can't say for sure. Each cable box has a MAC address that is linked with the CableCard. This way Comcast can manage their network. It makes it so you can't get a channel without paying for it. I believe it's only used in Motorola systems not Scientific Atlanta systems tho they do have an equivalent. THey just call it something else.( I used to work for Comcast, that's the only reason I know this.)

Ahhh, okay. I'm not sure if the DAC has anything to do with this.

If you used to work for Comcast, perhaps you'll understand if I say that TV Server is receiving the Network Information Table (NIT) - both carrier definition subtable (CDS) and modulation mode subtable (MMS) - and Network Text Table (NTT) source name subtable (SNS). It just isn't receiving the all-important Virtual Channel Table (VCT). We need at least the VCT's virtual channel map in order to know which channels are available from the headend.

In other words, we have the channel names and frequencies, but we don't have the channel numbers and the mapping from channel to frequency. Without channel numbers it is impossible to tune anything.

sounds to me like it needs some more signals sent to it. perhaps an account refresh or validation. at any rate it does sound like its something with Comcast. Shit! I hate dealing with their customer service. They are great just as long as you dont need to interact with them. I'm gonna have to call some of my friends that still work for them and see if they can help me out. I'll let you know what finally gets it working.

ok Everything is working again. It was Comcast 100%. They sent a bunch of signal;s to the card but the one that did it was the Initialize. That's was reactivates the card makes it get all new updated information like it was a fresh install. After that all I needed to do was setup schedules direct again. now I just have to find that logos folder I had. Thanks again for the help.
