For those of us watching broadcast (over-the-air) television, it would be very handy to have a signal strength meter readily available (like as part of the right-click menu while watching). Also good would be an indication of the resolution of the signal. Recently, upon running a scan in Brooklyn, New York, if been getting lots of duplicate channels (not sure why). It would be most helpful to know if there's anything distinguishing these (like resolution or signal strength) when establishing a preferred channel lineup. Indication of signal strength also help one orient an antenna, obviously, and helps one determine if a rescan, with a different orientation, is desirable. Thanks, N.

Sadly, it seems that development of MP2 has come to a stop. Perhaps it will restart in the future. Meanwhile...

MP1 has a "Tuning Details" panel that displays signal strength, signal quality, and picture resolution. It is updated in real time when viewing a channel:

However, perhaps you are already aware of this, but prefer MP2 over MP1.

In "TV Server Config" on the "Scan for Channels" panel, look for a setting called Enable channel movement detection. This setting exists for DVB-T; I don't know whether it also exists for ATSC. You should usually select this setting, as it will (as far as is possible) avoid the generation of duplicate channels (note: it is not 100% effective). It also preserves any channel renames that you have performed, and the selected/not-selected status of channels. Unfortunately, this setting is not selected by default, so you need to remember to select it each time that you rescan for channels. :(

If you want to reset your channel list, you should manually delete all existing channels before scanning for channels. That will avoid the generation of duplicate channels, but (of course) you lose any channel renames that you have performed, and the selected/not-selected status of channels.
