Hi,

because I had bad experiences with my first HTPC (Shuttle SN85) I'll try to get your comments for the above case & board selection - before I'll buy. I've also seen that both parts are used in this forum - so maybe you can share your expirience.

What I want do know is:
Can that board and the Remote be configured that is can suspend (and wake up) to disk and to ram (hibernate/standby) or are there any problems to expect.
The 2nd if I switch the to standby me fans keep turning very noise - does this happen with the combo too (original fans)?
Does the DVI support the 1080p also? What is a better (silent) graphic card recommendation (which supports this HTDV resolution)?
Sometime I had problems with my Twinhan & MP waking up from hibernate - it doesn't work immediately (maybe it's an issue of the OS or MB) - is there anything known with this MSI board ?
Are there alternatives with a better performance and graphic for the µATX form factor - I've no problem to use an P4 instead of an AMD64 cpu

Thanks in advance - but I like to prevent myself buying again a unsatisfying HTPC (components)

Regards

Joe

BTW: I didn't mentioned before but I'll use a twinhan dvb-s CI and thinking about 1 GB memory and 250-300GB HD

I do own an LC11m since one year now my conclusions :

PROS :
  • It's nice
  • The VFD is great
CONS:
  • uAtx is too restrictive
  • The raiser card restrict even more the Mother Board choice
  • It's not so quite, i had to change almost all the fan myself (i'm a bit crazy about noise so perhaps it'll fit your need)
  • IMHO and as you can read in other place in this forum the Remote Control is not very good with MP since the "Pad" is unaccurate but you can configure enough MP and the Remote so this won't be annoying in MP I think.

About your hibernating and suspend-to-ram question I think it's more a software configuration problem. I had to find the good drivers, bios, windows configuration to make everything work flawlessly. But I have pretty old hardware in my HTPC :

A7n8xVM-400 (Socket A)
Sempron 2400+
512 MB
Sapphire Theatrix 550 PRo
Hauppauge PVR-500

If I had to do it again, I would choose another case (certainly a Silverstone one again but perhaps a less restrictive model.)

Have fun !
