I was wondering what the size of HD recordings would be. I don't have too much free space right now. I read that HD recordings would be 10GB per hour, but I don't know what it would be for MediaPortal.

Also, what can I do to encode the .ts recordings to H.264 .mkv to save space? I found MCEBuddy, but is there a working plugin for MediaPortal? The I found VideoEditor and the MP Transcoding plugin. The latter doesn't work with MediaPortal RC1. What should I to transcode?

Thanks (MediaPortal has been great thus far btw!)

here in nz a 40 minute recording of a channel that is 1080i is around 3.2gb (30 min show plus 5 minute padding at each end)
720x576 channels are 1.3-1.6gb per 40 minutes and 720p channels are 2.5-2.8gb for 40 minutes.

spose it could be different depending on your countries/providers resolution, framerate and bitrate.

The size you told me is about the same as what I got. A 1 hour show at 1080i came out to 4.62GB for me.

Now to see what the H.264 version of the recording comes out to be.
