Skin/Plugin downloader (1 Viewer)

This is probably not an immediate or pressing issue but in future it would be great to see an add-ons downloader integrated into mediaportal, like the sort of thing you are able to do with firefox.

As a new MP user I found it kind of hard coming to grips with version compatability and plug-ins, and it would be useful to have the client 'vet' what will hook up with whatever version of MP is being used, and to do the download and install.

This does not necessarily cancel out the availability of getting plug-ins through the website or forum for people who like to get deeper into the ability to 'tweak' ad-ons and skins, but would be handy as a quick reference for those of us who dont want to spend a lot of time reading about what does and doesnt work with each release.

Did you check out MediaPortal Plugins-Skins Installer (MPI)?

Found here:
Start -> Team MP -> MP ->
or
"C:\Programfiler\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\MPInstaller.exe"

Start it and hit "refresh" or similar.

ok have played around with it, and there are issues with compatability. It doesnt check skin/plugin compatability.

the thing that Im getting at is a system that ensures that plugins 'work' with existing skin and version. The firefox example is what Im getting at - it 'vets' the plugin to make sure it will work with yr existing setup. Something like that would be a really useful addition to MP IMHO
