Hi!
I have a problem with setting up my TechniSat SkyStar 2 DVB-S PCI card. I have problem with signal level from my LNB. When I tried with DVBViewer and WDM drivers the signal is strong and I did not have any problems with scanning and tuning to channels. MediaPortal TV server with WDM driver during channel scan also worked as it should (I know that I should use BDA driver) and after scan I could tune in to the channels with known limitations. But with BDA drivers I loose about 30-40% of signal comparing to WDM driver?! I can tune in to 10 or 20 channels, on all others I get NoSignalDetected. What am I doing wrong?

Best regards, Samo.

Hey Samo, I have a similar issue. Just installed the 4.5 BDA drivers and a channel scan can not find all of the cannels. Most of the channels work fine though. When scanning, I see a signal level of zero, which is strange.

Have you tried the old BDA drivers (4.4.1) yet?

    Bye,
    Sepp.

Hi Sepp. Thank you for a tip. Now I have tried with BDA 4.4.1 driver and there was a slight improvement. Now I can tune in in almost every channel but with one catch; most of the time I get same error 'NoSignalDetected' and I have to try two-three times to tune in with preview in TV Server to get normal reception. I still do not understand: Why I have better reception with WDM driver ? I read somwhere that there can be a problem with multiswitch, but why I do not have any problems on other two settop boxes and Activy MediaCenter with Linux VDR... Any other idea?

    Hey Samo,

I made some more tests and came to the conclusion that the BDA drivers suck. No way to have good signal quality. If you browse the internet you see several people having problems with the BDA drivers, also with other applications. I went back to the 4.5 WDM drivers and everything works fine now.
Note that you have to install the complete software package, not only the drivers. After installation, you have to remove the Server4PC application from the startup folder.

When scanning channels with TVServer, I get 100% signal strength and 85% quality, where the BDA drivers showed 0% signal strength and 40% quality.

    See you,
    Sepp.

    Hi

    I have SkyStar2 rev 2.3

Tryed both BDA and WDM drivers (various version) with MediaPortal. BDA don't work good (as meny people also said on this forum), but for me WDM drivers are not working satisfactory also. In general, they works, but picture freeze a little from time to time. On HD channels it's even worse, freezes more ofte and have many picture artefacts, glitches, etc... Something like signal is no good, but with same drivers other programs like AltDVB, MyTheatre and DVBDream works without any errors, glitches, artefacts ...

Has anybody experience such issues? I'm using same codecs in all programs, the only thing that i got on my mind is maybe some demuxer issue. Can i choose diferent demuxer than default, or demuxing is done inside source filter?

Just a question. I am using the BDA driver 4.5 and am missing some channels. If I switch to WDM is there anything to do or does TV-server just switch between them automatically?

TV server should recognize it as new card. You must rescan channels then. Btw, if you are satisfied with BDA drivers, try 4.4.1, they have no problem with missing channels.

I guess my question was is BDA general better or worse than WDM? Reading this thread it seems a little vague. There seems no common consensus. I will try 4.4.1 though - thanks!

at me BDA works rely bad/slow with SS2 v2.3 (compared to WDM). But I don't know is it general issue with SS2 cards and BDA, or just in my case
