Re: SleepControl plugin for MediaPortal v0.8.0

Hi, I know my Englich is not so good, sorry!
So I use Win XP and MP RC6. I did it with the zip and tried mpe1. Default skin is blue3. In the config I can set everything. The button "sleep control" is in the skin to be seen. If I'm going to always get the message "missing or invalid file". Explain to me the errors I can not. sin all files in the folders available. I use the MP in the German language but it may not yet be right? I have it on 2 PC's tested with Win XP and always the same error.

Re: SleepControl plugin for MediaPortal v0.8.0

Hi Bruce Benner,
after taking a look into your log files, it seems, that your Mediaportal configuration does not contain a TV Server. SleepControl needs two libraries from this to working properly.
To solve the problem, please download the TVServer libraries directly from here or the HTPCInfo thread. After this, please unzip the archive and copy the files "TVControl.dll" and "TVLibrary.Interfaces.dll" into your Mediaportal installation directory.

Cheers, Micropolis

Re: SleepControl plugin for MediaPortal v0.8.0

Hi Bruce Benner,
sorry, I don't know what you mean.
Please post your mediaportal.log file here, without this it is not possible to take a deeper look inside your described problem. Another way is to send me a personal message in your native language.

Hi Atma,
It would be really useful if there was the possibility to just turn down the volume after a period

If there is enough time, it is possible to realize this, maybe with one of the next major releases. Before you can try a look to my plugin VolumeControl, this can be used to reduce the master volume at a given time.

blank the screen would be even better

I would not invent the wheel twice, because my plugin ScreenControl fullfils this requirement.

Cheers, Micropolis ;-)

Hi Goersch,
sorry for the long delay, but currently my time is very rare.

I have added the possibility for SleepControl to enable / disable the GMPS IdleTimer with the new 0.3.4.1 Alpha 11 Version of GMPS. Attached please find a Visual Studio project with all necessary information on how to do the communication. Unfortunatelly, this requires some installations of 3 or 4 DLLs into the plugin path for MP. I hope I get an easier solution done for the next 0.4 version.

Yesterday I've made some small experiments with your suggested solution (big thx for this) and yes: it works.
It's not the best way, but it has potential. The biggest issue for this solution is a strong dependency to existing GMPS dynamic link libraries, the only way for an independent SleepControl plugin is to use reflection techniques. Ok, that's my first impression, the next steps (or other interface options) we discuss here or directly inside the GMPS Scheduler forum asap.

Cheers, Micropolis ;-)

Re: SleepControl plugin for MediaPortal v0.8.0

Hi, my wife suddenly developed a need to start using this plugin. Thank you for your work.

    1. Will it be possible to integrate a sleep timer that will kick in when current playing video stops?
    2. Is it possible to get a warning popup, even while watching video, when a counter will be activated in the next 10/15 seconds. With option to cancel (or extend?). If no reaction, then shutdown as planned.

Is it possible to use the plugin with the Blue3Wide Skin? There are no such Files in the ZIP. Installing the mpe1 doesn't work ("Invalid File ..." when starting the Plugin from MP Homescreen).

Re: SleepControl plugin for MediaPortal v0.8.0

    Hi rekenaar,
    see my answers below.

    1. Will it be possible to integrate a sleep timer that will kick in when current playing video stops?

To fullfill your requirement, enable the option "Wait until media playbacks are finished" and set a sleep time, which ends before the video stops.

    2. Is it possible to get a warning popup, even while watching video, when a counter will be activated in the next 10/15 seconds. With option to cancel (or extend?). If no reaction, then shutdown as planned.

Switch on the option "Show confirmation dialog" and you've got a dialog window, where you can decide to start or stop the selected sleep mode. Currently I don't know, if it is possible to create a Yes/No dialog using MediaPortal API, which closes automatically after a given time. Maybe a self designed control can handle this.

Important information to all users of my plugins: Due to my daily business and my absence from home location I'm no able to react to questions or wishes in a proper way. Please understand this, thank you.

    Cheers, Micropolis ;-)

Is it possible to use the plugin with the Blue3Wide Skin? There are no such Files in the ZIP. Installing the mpe1 doesn't work ("Invalid File ..." when starting the Plugin from MP Homescreen).

Please copy the appropriate files from the Blue3 directory into the Blue3wide directory.

"Wait until media playbacks are finished" and set a sleep time, which ends before the video stops
Thanks, will use that, but the whole problem is that it will instantly shutdown while we might want to watch something else depending if we are asleep or awake.

    I was thinking like this:
We watch a TV show but not sure if we will be awake for another one. If we can set a timer for 5 minutes, but it only counts down while video is NOT playing, then we will have enough time to start another show before the PC shutdown. As soon as the video start again, the timer stops.

But thanks for the answer and good luck with your busy RL :)

Re: SleepControl plugin for MediaPortal v0.8.0

    Hi rekenaar,
thx for your feedback. In my opinion it is possible to change the existing confirmation dialog in the following way: You have an option to start the selected sleep mode, to stop the action completely or to wait again for a given time. It can be implemented using a option list or 3 button dialog. This can be included into the next release, but I can't give any guarantee to find a possibility to auto choose an option, if there's no user reaction.

    SleepControl plugin for MediaPortal v0.8.5

    Dear community,
the updated version v0.8.5 of this plugin is ready for downloading.

    Informations for users:
    • the requested functionality for volume reduction was added
    • more activation keys added
    • enhancements regarding the sleep mode confirmation dialog (thx to rekenaar)

    Informations for skinners:
    • Button-ID 9 “Volume Reduction” added

rekenaar: It's not the best solution, other possibilities requires a bigger code redesign. Hope it works as expected.

    Cheers, Micropolis ;-)
