Slow loading mpeg4 (1 Viewer)

I just reinstalled Mediaportal a few days ago, after having given up on it about a year ago. Everything is working properly except for mpeg4 movies. They all take forever to load. I can play mpeg2, x264 and so on without any problems, but mpeg4 always take at least 20 seconds to load.

I have no problems with mpeg4 in zoomplayer, but in WMP11 the problem remains, so it seems it's not a flaw in Mediaportal.

I'm using Vista x64 with ffdshow and EVR enabled, any help will be greatly appreciated since, in my case, mpeg4 handling is the make it or break it factor.

Is your setup correctly done for mp4 files? See Inker's recent post.

If your setup is fine and you still have problems, you will need to give more detail. System specs, MP version, and log files as generated by MPTestTool2.exe in your MP directory.

Hi and thanks for your reply. I think you misread my post, as my concern is in regard to mpeg4 files, ie. divx, and xvid, not containers as mp4. In fact, my x264 matroska files load almost instantly.

    Hi,
If you attach your mediaportal.log(& in MP configuration -> General & Log Verbosity set to debug) it's possible to see what takes time when starting a file....

Yip, I definitely replied to quickly :D

Did you already check for codec problems with filmerit?

Ronilse I've uploaded mediaportal.log and vmr9.log. I'm not sure if it's any help, but I tried playing an X264 file for comparison (x264-mediaportal.log and x264-vmr9.log).

As for the settings, I've tried with all VMR9 settings enabled and disabled, the same goes for EVR.
My current Movie Player settings are as follows.
Mpeg-2 video decoder: ffdshow Video Decoder //I have also tried MPV Decoder and others, but I don't see how this should affect an Mpeg4 file.
H.264 video decoder: CoreAVC Video Decoder //I have tried ffdshow here, but of course this only affects the performance of my X264 files.
Audio decoder: Dscaler Audio Decoder //I have also tried ffdshow Audio Decoder, AC3 Filter and others.
Audio renderer: SPDIF Out (Creative SB Audigy 2 // Have also tried Default Directsound Device, Reclock, analog outputs and so on.

The problem exists in WMP11 as well, but not ZoomPlayer. I've tried debugging with GraphEdit, but it doesn't suffer from the long load times, so it doesn't really come across any problems.

Rekenaar, I downloaded and ran filmerit, but it only shows eight errors, which seem to all be unrelated to the problem, as most are filters for tv-tuners.

Thank you both, for your help so far. I've never noticed this problem in WMP11 before, so I'm sure it's solvable, I just hope it's debuggable as well.

I finally managed to fix it through gspot. Apparently Vopei MP was the problem, despite it was never assosiated with any files.

Should anyone run into similar problems I suggest "Proposed Codec Solutions and Tests" at the bottom of GSpot.
