Hi there,

I've recently attached an MCE remote to control MediaPortal. Functionality wise, it's all perfect.

I find that If I use the keyboard, then there is no speed issue when I havigate through the menus. However when I use the Remote the response is significantly slower. Please note that this is throughout MP and not speciffically the TV area.

Is there something that can be tweaked/changes to speed up the response of the remote?

Many thanks in advance,
Dunxed

Do you have the same issue with other applications controled by the MCE remote? Windows Media Player, for instance. Does the speed problem occur only in MediaPortal or is it an remote sensor issue?

Just checked last night. I went into Windows Media Center and it seemed to slow there as well.

In MP, when in the main menu, I guess I'm asking if what I experience below is normal:

If I Press Up --> Up --> Up --> Up --> Down --> Down quickly (not manically, but as I would do on my Foxtel/Sky box now), the system gets confused and seems to sometimes lock up for a second or so, or perhaps just ignores parts of the comments...

    Is this normal?
    Thanks

    Hi,

    No, it is NOT normal.
BUT, if you face such slowr esponse in other application, I wouls have a look at the OS first before trying to corect this issue in MP.

Sorry, it doesn't help much :/

Is it a Microsoft mce remote or other brand?

I use a Logitech harmony which appears to have 300ms worth of delay for it to convert the button press to ir command.... Annoying it is too :)

    Hi guys,

If it's a Logitech Harmony, the delay can be changed and massively improved. I change it from the default setting to 0 ms and it's tons better. Not as quick as the keyboard, but a massive improvement over the default.

You need to download the older Harmony software - I think it's version 7.7.0 from the Logitech web site. Go to your Windows Media Center device and select Troubleshoot. You need to adjust 2 settings here:

Select the "HomeSonica responds to some commands either too many times or only occasionally." option and change it to 0 (zero)

Select "Windows Media Center responds too slowly" and set that to 0 (zero).

Save the settings and update your remote. That should sort you out very nicely!

    Cheers
    Si

Does that 0ms work on a harmony 300, could only get the online software to detect it.

As far as I know, setting it to 0 also only takes it down to 300 ms, quick but annoying for rapid epg guide browsing :)

My Microsoft remote has no issue with speed at all

Sorry, only ever tried this with a 650 and a 700 and both now positively whizz around the EPG! Still not as fast as MS MCE remotes though.....

Actually just had a quick look and I'm not sure the 300's can use the 7.7.0 version of software for configuration, only the myharmony.com software - which doesn't have the same options.
