For all of those that get the MySQL Set Password Error, here is the easiest solution.
- Uninstall MySQL
- after the uninstall, delete the MySQL folder from 'C:/Program Files' folder as well as either 'C:/programdata' or 'C:/Documents and Settings/All Users/Application Data'.
- restart your computer
- reinstall mySQL (or MediaPortal).
I did a search of my c:/ to find the hidden MySQL folder.
