The screenshot does not prove the existence of stored settings as Stephen claimed because MP Config will select the LAV options by default when there are no stored settings.

In other words, this is what I'm claiming happened:
You had no stored settings => MP using Microsoft codecs => crash.
You view the settings in MP Config. You see LAV options selected because those are the defaults, not because they were your actual settings.
You fiddle with the settings. This step is irrelevant.
You close MP config. Now the settings are saved, which solved the problem.

I've been working on MediaPortal for more than 5 years now, so I'm fairly confident I'm right. I guess you either believe me or you don't.

In any case, I'm glad you've managed to resolve the problem.
