Hi All!

First I want to say that I love Media Portal!

At the moment I am having an issue that I can't figure out how to fix. When I record a TV show it records with no sound (I have TV Server RC3 installed). I get no sound with either recording from MP or from a plug-in (For The Record). When I try and play back any of these recordings (inside of MP or the .mpg file with WMP) neather have any sound.

However, when I use TV-Server Config -> Manual Control -> Start Time Shift -> Record -> ... -> Stop Rec, the .mpg file has sound.

I am very confused... any ideas?

Thanks!

I forgot to mention, the sound works when time shifting (watching live TV)... just not when "recording".

Thanks!

I had the same issue when I 1st setup the TV machine. It may have something to so with the Hauppage card (I have the 1800 version) try recording in TS stream and not MPG. I also rebooted the machine, which seemed to resolve the issue.

I also only had the issue when I recorded ATSC stream, but was fine on analog. Don't know if that has anything to do with it. Right now, I'm recording fine on both, the no sound issue was short lived after a reboot.

Had sporadic the same problem. Like mikildemion suggested, try recording as TS and not MPG. Since then all my recordings had sound.

I had the same issue with an HVR1300 (maybe a hauppauge problem??) and solved it by switching to ts also.
I just bumped into this thread trying to find if others had the same and how to make it working with .mpg.

What I found is that the .mpg file that has no sound in MP and WMP plays fine with sound in PowerDVD 8.
So actually the sound IS recorded. If you check the MP logs you will see that it find NO sound stream when trying to play the file. But if PowerDVD does then I assume that the audio stream is not recognized by the stream splitter filter MP and WMP uses. But the cyberlink one recognizes it fine.

For now I also use TS, but I 'm investigating for the reason. By the way which version of hauppauge drivers are you using 4.6b?? Anyone with older version to tell us how it works?

And anyone knows if and how we can change the splitter filter MP uses??

Thanks

Is there any way to play the MPG files in Mediaportal and get the sound ?

I can play the files in Windows Media Plater, VLC and PowerDVD8 and all have the sound, just media portal doesn't.

Have changed my recording format back to TS, but woud be great to get the Audio on the files already recorded (they happen to be have been recorded at the same time)

I an finding that while I hear sound on liveTV, that occasionally I'll have a .mpg file recorder which has no sound. I abandoned using .ts because the playback was buggier when I skip forward during playback -- often the player would lockup. Switching back to .mpg format I'm now saddled that not all of my shows will have sound. I use two tuners and have not limited it to if it's only when a second tuner needs to record, a given network (Fox is where I'm having issue), or what.
