Greetings,

Installed my TBS6985 DVB-S2 card in my htpc running win7.
I installed the drivers and connected the card in a pci x16 slot using a x1 riser card cable. I also connectes one of the molexes of the card's power connector.

However, the card never is recognized. In windows, device manager doesnt recognize it because it cant find the drivers. I tried reinstalling the drivera.. but nothing.

Any ideas? X16 slots should work with a x1 cable, no?

Greetings

Why use a riser? You should be able to put x1 cards like the TBS6985 directly into x16, x8 or x4 slots. However, note that some motherboards reserve x16 slots for graphics/video cards.

However, the card never is recognized. In windows, device manager doesnt recognize it because it cant find the drivers. I tried reinstalling the drivera.. but nothing.
So does device manager list the card with a yellow exclamation mark (meaning: missing drivers)?

    You shouldn't need a cable.

Sorry for not clearing this up, but my case only allows one horizontal full-height slot.
I"ll try changing slots when I get home.

And yes, yellow exclamation mark for "unknown device"

EDIT: I switched to the bottom x16 slot, reinstalled the drivers from the TBS website and it worked!
    Thank you, i'm a happy man! :)
