Yeah you guys are right. The situation is actually a bit political. The cover art provider that is having problems is http://posters.motechnet.com. Recently (in the last few days) they made some modifications to their site that basically causes any HTTP request that does not originate from a web browser to be refused. Basically meaning they made very specific changes to their website that would cause applications like Moving Pictures to be blocked. This is easily worked around and in the 0.7 baseline we have already fixed the issue, but the real question is should we fix the issue. The website also serves movies subtitles which is utilized but an outside API linked to from the website itself so our assumption was that they were willing to act as a web service to applications like Moving Pictures. Apparently this was an incorrect assumption though at least in regards to cover art. So currently we are trying to contact the site operators of motechnet.com to see if we can come to some sort of agreement. Maybe if we promoted their site more prominently on the forums (and possible a link in the app?) they would let us keep using them as a data source. But unfortunately I think that if they do not want us scraping their site, Moving Pictures will stop supporting the motechnet.com script. Please keep in mind that 0.7 will include full support for themoviedb.org, so if we do loose motechnet.com as a cover art provider, we will also in the near future be gaining themoviedb.org. Hopefully it will mostly balance out. So for the time being if you guys could disable the motechnet.com cover art provider in the Moving Pictures config screen I (and I am sure the guys over at motechnet.com) would appreciate it. This will also speed up cover art retrieval and keep your log file clean. Any comments on the situation are welcome.
