some questions about mediaportal (1 Viewer)

hi there,

i am just new to this htpc theme and bought a zotac ion based pc...

it took me some days to configure mediaportal and the pc, now its running quite well...
just to make sure: i did a lot of googling for this themes, but everything i found did not fit well...)


my configuration:
zotac board
lg multi drive (blueray, hddvd, dvd and cd)
technotrend s2 3600 dvbs usb reciever
windows 7 home premium as os

here are my questions:
- is it possible that the pc is in sleep (not hibernate, seems not work), does the recording and then goes back to sleep?
i found the scheduler and did configure it but it does not wake up and if i configure standby after idle the pc goes to sleep while running mediaportal client... what did i do wrong?

- timeshift does prevent switching channels... there seems to be a issue in switching channels if you do the following: watch tv, go back, select a channel from the channel list and there it comes... timeshift could not start, card in use.
if you switch the channel within watching tv the error does not occur... is it possible to deactivate timeshift? should be not possible, or am i wrong? for me it sounds like a tribute to the server client structure... the server does the switching and the client is playing the buffered video...

- comskip integration: what does the autoskip mean? does mp skip the commercials on the fly? or is it just the "next chapter" option? and: comskip does not run during timeshift?

- dvd playing... i reconfigured dvd playing just to start the bundled powerdvd... the internal dvd player seems to have quite a lot of issues and for blueray i do need powerdvd... but: when i am done watching the dvd and close powerdvd mediaportal seems to be stuck... i have to do some action (back forth ok or anything else) to refresh the ui... is it normal?

this are my questions that came up... but, overall, the pc is doing a very well job... mediaportal is quite comfortable and easy to use...
and the ion chipset rocks!

1. re powerscheduler - you need to configure the plugins in the tv server and in mediaportal. Both plugins need to be configured. Also, you may need to allow powerscheduler to suspend (s3/s4) the machine. Manually setting to standby may interfere with the resume process. If you prefer not to allpw Powerscheduler to set the machine to standby when MP is running, set the 'only in home screen' option - this way, if MP is not on Home Screen, Powerscheduler will not put the machine to standby.
2. re comskip, MP will skip ads on recorded tv with comskip data. as far as I know this does not work in the timeshift buffer
3. re PowerDVD - see THIS thread, alternately, use AnyDVD if you dont need subtitle support

i just recieved my copy of win7 and did a complete reinstall...

works quite nice, need a bit more time to integrate everything you mentioned @ethessadad

just another question:

if i run my hd ready lcd tv in 1080i windows is flickering... makes you mad if you look on it... but in mediaportal everything is fine, no flickering...
anyone a idea what went wrong? 1080i is running on 25hz and if i switch to 720p i can select 60 hz... running in 720p there is no flickering...

im quite new to this htpc theme and seem to have a lot to learn about "multimedia"
