Some recorded TV has no video after installing new video card (1 Viewer)

Hello,

I upgraded my video card in attempt to eliminate random and infrequent Stop 0x00000116 errors. Some forum posts strongly recommend running DriverSweeper when upgrading video cards, so I did. After upgrading, some of my recorded TV shows no video. I can hear the audio but the screen is black. The MediaPortal GUI still shows but no video.

What could have happened? How do I fix this?

I tried re-installing MP 1.2.2 but I could not find a re-install option.

Please help!

I just tried changing my TV codec from Microsoft DTV-DVD Video Decoder to CyberLink Video Decoder and the video now shows. But I prefer Microsoft's decoder. What broke and how do I fix it? And why does this problem only affect some recorded TV and not all?

Nobody?

Again, only certain recordings are a problem. But once I play one of these recordings, none of the 'other' recordings show video either. If I restart MP, those 'other' recordings play just fine.

What the...

Please help. I really do not want to reinstall the OS and MP from scratch.

Using 285.xx drivers? There's a bug. Try the 290.xx betas.

Thanks for the tip. 285.62 to be exact. Do you know exactly what the bug is? And does it seem related to my problem? I don't generally like installing beta anything. Are beta display drivers safe?

It's listed by Nvidia as "black screen during playback using Windows Media Center", but it seems to be wider spread than just WMC by all reports. First corrected in the 285.79 beta (see notes: NVIDIA DRIVERS 285.79 BETA).

You could try changing decoder - are you using the MS one?

Beta video drivers are fine - they're just progressive releases between the WHQL releases.

Nvidia graphics then use LAV filters and enable Cuvid, if you do not want to use beta drivers then drop back to the 275.33 whql.

Thank you both very much. That bug certainly sounds like the culprit. I guess I'll give the betas a try. Do you recommend the very latest or perhaps a particular version?

PD, can you explain a bit further? What exactly do you mean by "Nvidia graphics"? Do you mean use LAV for audio, video, or both; videos and recorded tv? I will look now, but in case I don't find it, where exactly does one enable Cuvid?

I can't get to the LAV Video Configuration via the Programs menu. I click on it but no window ever appears. The audio config works though. I can only get to the LAV video config if I add it in MP Config under Video->Video Post Processing. I shouldn't have to add anything in post processing, should I? I also realized I somehow got the MP LAV filter package installed along with SAF 6.0 which also includes LAV. Could this be screwing me up? What is the best way to resolve?

Well I'll be damned. Latest beta of Nvidia drivers fixed my problem. Yay! And thank you!

However, I'm still concerned I cannot access the LAV Video Configuration screen to ensure CUDA is enabled. Would having both the MP LAV filter and SAF 6 installed cause a conflict of any sort? Should I uninstall one? Or should I uninstall both then reinstall only one? Which one?
