Sound music and video no longer working (1 Viewer)

Hi all,

Recently I've lost all sound on video (avi, mpeg and streamed video) and music playback. DVD files (hard drive based) are no issue. (I'm still trying to fully understand the difference between these two audio formats) Windows sounds are also working properly, and all video through other programs than MP as well.

I've got SAF 4.00 installed and configured to the letter, and it used to work. All i can think off is that I installed a new hard drive recently and I must have lost sound after that. But there is no cables or anything that could have come lose, right??? Sound is going through, so....

Do you guys have any idea where i should be looking or any test i could do to find out where the problem lies.

Any help is strongly appreciated.

Try reinstalling SAF. That's what I would do first. If that does not, reinstall sounds drivers. And if that does not...I don't know.

I guess it's a audio codec problem.

Reinstalled SAF => got a strange error that i should remove "8.0.2217" I found out this was refering to powerDVD. I removed this also. No more errors with SAF install. Redid all the SAF settings => No success
Opened the case - disconnected the new drive. As I suspected no result (one get's desperate, you know how it is)
In other words I'm lost.

Any one else that wants to brainstorm with me on this? Any logs I could post to help you help me?

Install latest SAF5 - make sure you don't enable audio passthrough !
Start Graphstudio - START-SAF-Tools - start your video here - do you have sound?

I tested as you described. When I open my avi through Graphstudio I get sound. I'm hoping that is good news. My guess is now that SAF is not malfunctioning/mal configured. But I still have no sound in MP. I played around a bit with the ffdshow settings while playing the movie but these don't seem to have any effect on the output.

I tried to open mp3's the simular way but Graphstudio was unable to play these files. So I could not test audio through there. (mp3 is also not working from MP)

Still lost.... :'(

You should be able to play MP3 (and a lot of other audio formats) in graphstudio using latest SAF5 builds.
If you have sound in Graphstudio, SAF is working as it should.

Make sure you set Default audio renderer in MePo.

So SAF is working...

Still no mp3 or avi sound in MePo. Going for a fresh MePo install, I guess.
[edit] 20 minutes, a Fresh install of 1.1.2 and one pizza later. No result. [/edit]

I have the same issue tonight
Still get playback from AC3 sources but no music playback or mpeg tv.
Just stopped working randomly. I have upgraded my version without sucess.

What i did (and i'm not sure this helps you)

If running WIN7 ( I think Vista has the same, XP doesn't)
ALT + ENTER out of MePo while playing mp3 or avi files.
Open volume mixer on ther task bar and look if MePo volume is turned on.
