This isint exactly a MP problem as it happens with any pc I have running any software. The problem is no matter what PC I hook up to my receiver (Older Pioneer) I have to turn the volume up almost as high as the receiver goes to get normal volume from the PC, weather its MP content or just any windows noises at all. But regular TV, Radio, DVD volume is just fine.

The only thing I can think of is that my receiver just doesnt like PC's and I'll have to upgrade, but before I shell out some cash I thought I'd check here and see if anyone has had this problem and maybe there's just some windows settings I need to adjust.

Any help is appreciated

This probably should have been posted in off topics. But have you tried to take a VCR or portable Tape or CD player and use the audio out on those devoces to go into your receiver? If so, does it behave the same as with the output from your computer?

I ask because it is usually best to start at simple before going to more complex troubleshooting. Then I would try a different audio patch cord. What steps to trouble shoot this problem have you tried so far? What is your computer motherboard and audio card? Are you just using stereo out?

Ya sorry, I wasn't sure where I should post this.

Yes I have several other devices, CD, DVD, Directv Box ect hooked up to the receiver and the volume on them works just fine. I have also tried different cords Different PC with different sound cards and motherboards (Sound cards were Soundblaster Live Value and Soundblaster Live 5.1) I've tried with desktops and laptops and get the same problem. And yes I'm just using stereo out.
