Sound problems with Sony Bravia TVs (1 Viewer)

I have conected my TV to the PC by DVI-HDMI and sound cables.

The problem is that when I shut down my TV I have no sound when I switch it back on again, so I have to restart the computer in order to get sound working.

I know that this is not a problem directly related to media portal, but it's a very unpleasent situation to have to restart the computer when I want to see something on the MP.

I hope anyone knows how to solve this.

Hi,
I've connected my htpc to the bravia lcd just trough the HDMI cable and I don't have any issue.
I've both sound and video.
I've also tried a regular connection as DVI-VGA and sound and no problem.
I've never tried your configuration... but the other above are working!

I've connected my htpc to the bravia lcd just trough the HDMI cable and I don't have any issue.
I've both sound and video.

May be with the HDMI cable there is no such problem.

Have you tried to shut down the TV and switch it back on again?, do you still have the PC sound?

Here is what i did. (Sorry, could not test it with mp)
played a video with vlc
switched sony to standby
returned from standby
sound still there
turned sony off & on again (after 30 secs)
sound still there

i think you might try the following
get a mp3 player or something like that and plug it in the sound inputs of the bravia (the ones where you put your pc in), leave the video cable where it is.
Now you have got the video from your pc and the audio from the player.
now turn the tv off and turn it back on
if you still get the sound from the mp3 player then the problem is your pc, if you ain't got sound it's the bravia.

you might also check the following :
if you come to the point where you have no audio unplug and plug in your audio cable. Still got no sound ? Try to put a headphone in your pc's audio out - still no sound - blame your pc

please try these things so that we can narrow down the problem.

If you fill in your system details, you may get some other help... I have seen similar problems with ATI video cards but that is just using HDMI. So can you provide details of exactly how you have the PC and TV connected....

I've seen that too with some ATi Cards, but although with some Intel-Onboard Graphic.

I have updated the first post with info about my computer.

I still have to borrow an mp3 player to try to connect to the TV when the sound is out, but I have tried this:

if you come to the point where you have no audio unplug and plug in your audio cable. Still got no sound ? Try to put a headphone in your pc's audio out - still no sound - blame your pc

If I shutdown the TV and switch it on again, the sound is gone, if I try then to unplug and plug the audio cable still not sound. If I connect then a headphone to the computer, it works fine.

Also I noticed that when the TV recognices the sound it seems to place for a brief moment in the TV screen two volume icons.

More or less like this but two of them, I think if I can make the TV to make this check again when I switch on the TV the problem would be solve. I was not able to achieve this with the remote options.

So can you provide details of exactly how you have the PC and TV connected....

The PC is connected through the TV by DVI-HDMI cable for video and a sound cable with 2 jacks in the output.
