Hi

Just need people opinion on whether this spec would work.

Mini-itx 5000
80GB hdd
512ram
PVR-150

All I want to be able to do is
1) Show a schedule on the TV via tvout on the MB.
2) Record using the schedule.
3) Control channel changing on the Skybox via USBUIRT and Pace LINK

I don’t want to do any playback via the box as I can do this via my Kiss DVD player and I don’t want to do anything else at all (no music, no pictures etc)

So basically I am building a HDD recorder with a schedule.

Do you guys think that Mediaportal would run on this spec?

To give you something to compare with:

I've run mp on:

AMD duron 800
512MB
pvr 150MCE
60GB 7200rpm
ati 9550GE

Result: time shifting possible but you need to test different codecs to find wich doesn't max out the processor.
Some parts of mp have very slow response like the tv guide

AMD duron 1200
512MB
pvr 150MCE
60GB 7200rpm
ati 9550GE
Time shifting works a lot better. Response is a lot better but still some areas ar to much for the cpu.

AMD Athlon XP 2000+
512MB
pvr 150MCE
60GB 7200rpm
ati 9550GE
Reponse time is now good, no need anymore for searching for the right coded for the cpu. MP is a much more stable

I've never done a background recording, but that should be less cpu intensive then timeshifting.

I just see that the 5000 only has a 533 MHz processor that combined with a non dx9 graphics card will make it very hard to get mp running.

OK thanks for that help. Might need to look at up the board to a better one.
Still be interesting how it runs MP for just recording though.
