I cannot get my green start button to open Mediaportal. I went into "additional 3rd party checks" and enabled the policy then clicked the box. However, after I click ok and reopen it to make sure the settings have been changed. It reverts back to default. WHere the check box is no longer available and status is "services running" after I did this, Media Center no longer opens which is good. But, Mediaportal will not open. When I press the button it does nothing. I think it might be an "alt" function because when I have a window open it show the "file" screen and it is highlighted and when pressed again the "file" menu goes away. The same as if you were to hit alt on the keyboard. Please help!

    1. Click enable policy to prevent startup
    2. Then click MP Tray [X] Autostart MPTray to launch...
    3. Now click ok to close MePo Config

    Now retry.

(Step 1 will disable the green button from launching Media Centre, Step 2 will enable the green button to launch MP)

I have tried the 3 steps listed above. This prevents Windows Media Center from opening. But it doesnt open Mediaportal. Can you assist me in disabling and re-enabling the green button to launch MP?

    Thanks

Helps with opening Mediaportal? That doesn't seem like the correct fix. I also do not have a keyboard connected to the pc currently which is why I am using my remote. I believe it is just a setting in the configuration of the remote. However, I am not sure what to change it to.

your half way there because atleast mce isn't starting with the green button
some remotes sent ctrl+shift+w with the green button
open start menu -> navgiate to mepo -> right click, properties -> shortcut -> in the window press the green button, it may insert this code.
