Hi
I have a few questions about TVE3 and standby. Talking about the TVE3 server only, NOT mediaportal client.

* Will TVE3 wake up from standby/hibernate when a recording is gonna take place?
* does it support both modes or just standby?
* Do I need a third party plugin? or is the powerschedule plugin all I need in TVE3

If I missed that this is documented somewhere please forgive me.

regards

It has its own powerscheduler options, which interact with MP's Powerscheduler Client plugin, seems to work fine single seat, do not know about multiseat and how it reacts to the heartbeat checking function to make sure nothing is active.

It goes into Standby\hibernate when inactive period reached ie 5 mins, you can also set it to abort shutdown if certain programs\processes running (configurable) ie iexplore so you can browse the internet without it suddenly closing down.

    Hi
    thanks for the reply.
    When u say
-"which interact with MP's Powerscheduler Client plugin"
do u mean that I need MP and that plugin for the TVE3 to wake up and record a show. I do not run MP on that computer at all. All I want is the server to wake up when the recording is gonna take place.

Does the TVE3 powerschedule plugin add a schedule task to wake up the computer or how does it work?

    regards

Mediaportal adds the recording directly to the sqldatabase which TVE3 reads (it shows up in TVE3\scheduled recordings), so it physically shows in 2 places, MP client (as MyTV) and TVE3 server, if deleted in either it should be reflected in the other.

So whatever is in the db, then that is what powerscheduler reacts to.

I know about the schedule shows and all, but I am really curiuos to know HOW the TVE3 engine knows when to wake up. It doesn't work for me at all so I am trying to figure out how it works. I thought the only way to wake up a computer (not WOL) is to have a schedule task to wake itself up. I looked but can't find any so I guess there must be another mechanism for it to wake up.
Once again MP is NOT running on the computer when it goes to standby, only TVE3 service is active.

Have u got it to work without MP running?I mean does the computer wake up 120 sec(def) before the show starts?

Found this in the wiki now. I guess I need MP running to make it work.

Currently the only fully supported setup is a singleseat setup, meaning both the tvservice and MediaPortal are running on the same computer. Using the powerscheduler tvservice plugin in a client/server setup, where MediaPortal runs on a different computer than the tvservice, is currently NOT supported!

Yes, but as i said mine is single seat, interesting because mine will powerdown without MP running after the 5 minutes of inactivity, so assumed it was the TVE3 part of the powerscheduler responsible.

Forgotten that, but that is very old, do not know if that still stands, maybe someone else could confirm.

    Cheers
