Hi!

MP RC1 SVN with TV3 SVN

It would be nice, if the function "Stop Recording" in My TV works with scheduled recordings. I have it all in german, so the name of buttons maybe not exactly, but let me show you an example:

You want to record a show every week, but this week there is another show at this time (often on public holidays), so you want to stop the recording (to be able to view another channel or whatever). Once you stopped it with MP in My TV, the Recording starts again, and again and again... It's not possible to stop it, after the recording time you have as much seperate recording files, as often you hit "Stop Recording".

That's all :D

:D

Try deleting the schedule instead of the recording. If you just stop or delete the recording you still have it scheduled for recording! This is the way MP makes sure that as much as possible gets recorded. If you for example reboot during a recording it will continue to record since the schedule is still there.

I understand the problem and I understand why MP tries to record it again and again.

But to explain it with my example (a weekly show, one week without show): You don't want to delete the whole weekly schedule, because there's only one week with another thing on this channel. I also had problems to get in the menu where I can configure the schedule (in MP, where time after recording/ before recording, delete, record...) - you can't select it in EPG, because in this week it's not there...

There should be a possibility to stop schedules for one time - it is a stupid situation if you are sitting in front of TV, on every channel are nice movies, but to switch the channel, you have to open TV Server Config, delete this schedule and a few days later (because EPG is only about 5 days in future available) you have to remember to select you show again and create a new weekly schedule.

I think its important, that a recording/schedule stops when you hit "stop recording". That's where the button should be for. Otherwise its only for one time manual recordings and not very interessting. I think it is a MUST HAVE function for an TV recorder, that you have a stop function that works... Every normal PVR has this function, and VHS, too.

I don't want to overvalue this problem, but I think it's important for usability, that you can stop it within one click in MP and not have to go the complicated way over several menus or via TV Server config.

Maybe you can ask the user, if he wants to stop the schedule only this time or if he wants to delete it for ever. Simple message box.

That's why TVScheduler was being produced for these kind of anomalies in the actual changes in the scheduling (now called "for the record").

Use search for above or Dvdfreak

...But without comskip support (???). And as I wrote: I think its a basic function that it stops when you as a user want it to stop. MP should support it with its basic endowments and without (complex) extra plugins.

We know the limitations of MP1, thats why MP2 was being designed to get a stable core and everything else as a plugin, even the likes of For the Record, with comskip support.

Please remember this is beta software, so all suggestions are welcome, but a few things just get repeated over and over again, which we cannot currently change.

Above post from Gibman, also helps into trying the things you mentioned, to be incorporated into MP1 itself.

Lets just agree this needs implementing at some stage, ok. :)

    Euh...

I'm sorry, but the functionality to stop a scheduled recording that is recording at the moment IS ALREADY THERE but in a weird, unlogical way. I guess this is how the devs have programmed it, but it's a degradation compared to TVengine 0.2, where everything was working like a charm and intuitively.

What you need to do is the following:
    Go to show in EPG
    Hit 'i' and then 'Record'
In the scheduled recordings list you go to the recording on top of the list (the scheduled one that is recording)
    Hit 'OK' on your remote
The question comes if you want to delete the recording of the episode or the entire schedule
Now choose to delete the recording of the episode and hit 'OK'
NOW, notice the button on the left is still saying "Don't record"!
Hit this button and the popup comes that says it's currently recording and deleting this stops the recording. Do you want this: YES!
Now the red recording dot disappears and stays away!

So don't say it's a limitation of MP1, my guess is it's never been looked at properly ;)

    EDIT:
Do I have to mention this again in a bugreport, improvement suggestion of MP1, improvement suggestion of TVserver, or somewhere else to have this fixed...?
