Hello fellow MP users :)

I've got a very strange issue with my MP pc. the situation is:

- Movies/DVD are stored at server;
- Server runs SBS2003;
- Netwerk is Gbit, cables are CAT6, switches are HP 1800G (fully managed the pro stuff)

The problem is when i play a HD movie or a DVD film from the server on my MP pc, it shows stottering now and then. This is very unpleasant and really takes away the pleasure as you al can imaging.

The MP pc is a 5200+ on a GA-MA78GM-S2H with 2GB. So thay should not be a problem.

Does anybody have an idea how to tweak MP so that the network performance is a bit better? When i copy a file through the network the speed is 50-70Mb/s so that is more than enough to stream a movie in my opinion.

Hope you are able to help me, if you have any questions feel free to ask.

    You don't say what OS (XP or Vista) you are running on your MP machine, but I had this on mine running Vista.

    I found that enabling the Enhanced Video Renderer (under DirectShow Filters in the MP Config) cured 99% of my stuttering. The remaining 1% was down to my network settings, but I'm running on a upto 270Mbps 802.11n wireless network.

    Also I made sure the drive(s) storing the videos were fully defragmented and excluded from on-access (read only, not write) virus scanning by the server.
