I found that enabling the Enhanced Video Renderer (under DirectShow Filters in the MP Config) cured 99% of my stuttering. The remaining 1% was down to my network settings, but I'm running on a upto 270Mbps 802.11n wireless network. Also I made sure the drive(s) storing the videos were fully defragmented and excluded from on-access (read only, not write) virus scanning by the server.</blockquote>
