Streaming Radio (1 Viewer)

I have been setting up My Radio I'm only assigning web radio broadcasts right now and the shoutcast link works really well. But if there's a stream coming from somewhere else how do I set that up. When I go to add it I put in the url and fill out the other info on it but they don't seem to play when I open My Radio. The only thing I can think of is that I haven't entered a bitrate for them since I guess I just don't know how to find that. It's not really listed anywhere on most radio stations sites. Also, if a site has one of these players that automatically plays it for you should you be able to pick up the signal anyway and use it if you're not using their player? I'm specifically thinking of sites like accuradio that I go to for a few things including Paste Magazines radio.

what type of streams are these?
Do they work in Windows Media Player? (if they don't they won't play in MP either)
Something in the logs? /Team Media Portal/MediaPortal/logs/

One of them has one of those small media player things you see on a lot of sites for streaming but the other one has it's own player. I'm not sure what it is. I'll check and see if I can open it in media player though. Efros sorry but what is a pls link?

Apparently accuradio uses media player in fact media player lists them in there with their list of reccomended stations. So how do I get it to play in here?
