I think I already said that, but yes, h.264 1080i is as bad as it gets when it comes to stressing a CPU and/or GPU.

h.264 = very complex encoding / decoding algorithm (much more complex the MPEG2 ie DVD)
1080 = lots of pixels to process
i = interlaced picture that requires de-interlacing

I'll ask again, what h.264 TV codec are you currently using? It is probably not necessary to re-install.

Cyberlink PDVD9, but I think it is neccessary to re-install as now MP is now crashing upon loading and also the Catalyst driver I installed as per the SAF util, does not cover all of my TV screen and the overscan options are not working.

So with PDVD probably the best, I am guessing something has been borked along the way with my codecs?

For information, the H.264 codec shipped with PDVD 8 Build 2521 and PDVD 9 Build 1501 (and later builds) isn't usable in other applications, so you have to install an earlier PDVD 8/9 build to use the codec in MP.

If the codec is appearing in the MP selection list it's an OK PDVD build, so this is just for information....

Yeah, I am going to use 8.0.2217.50 Ultra, which should be ok.
