Stutter-free HD TV with Intel G45 and EVR? (1 Viewer)

Motherboard: Asus P5Q-EM
Video Card: Intel G45 on mobo

2. TV Card: Tevii S660
2. TV Card Type: DVB-S2

I'm 99.9% happy with my setup but I can't get stutter-free HD TV if I use EVR. Using VMR9 the picture is absolutely
perfect (much better quality than my S*y box in fact.) But VMR9 doesn't work too well in Win7, the menus go a bit weird.
So I'd like to switch to EVR.

Is anyone else using the same s/w and h/w as me? i.e. Windows 7 64-bit, with Intel G45 graphics?

If so, and if you have stutter-free HD TV with a recent 1.1.0 RC, can you please post your system specs/codecs/settings etc?

A couple of things to try, make sure you have latest BIOS and drivers for mobo, then run MP in windowed mode with the problem channel\file and run the DPC Latency checker, see if that could be the problem.

Hi, thanks for the tips. Tried the latency checker and it seems all should be OK. Drivers and BIOS are up to date.
I also tried owlsroost's dshowhelper from that thread, and that made it much worse, loads of these in evr.log:

Hi Jay_UK,

I've tried with both the MS codec that comes with Win7 and CoreAVC.
Timeshift files are on a dedicated HD, i.e. not the C drive.
It's a multiseat setup but this problem is seen on the main server as that's the only PC which has a full HD display (Sony TV).
Not sure what you mean by AV? The display is a Sony TV and the audio is over HDMI.

This happens with all HD channels, SD seems OK. It happens when I play recorded HD TV back as well as live TV. With VMR9 I don't see the problem at all.

Hi Jon,

Looking at the symptoms, I think you're just running out of GPU performance - EVR is harder on the GPU than VMR9, and the Intel GPU hardware isn't very powerful.

If you drop the screen resolution to 720p, does the problem go away ?

Hi Tony,

I'll try 720p tonight after work. I bought the G45-based motherboard to replace the G35-based one which wasn't powerful enough <sigh> so it will be annoying if this is the problem. I also have a 'spare' Nvidia 9800 I can try but I seem to remember that it didn't behave very well with my TV, but I'll give that a try as well if I get time. I'll keep you updated...

Hi all!

I've exactly the same problem and comparable hardware (Intel Intel DG45 ID Board with Onboard X4500HD GPU).
CPU is Intel E2180 2GHz DualC and TV Card also Tevii S660 via USB. Is this setup really to weak for HDTV??
I've SAF 5.0 unlocked installed and have tried the Windows and the PDVD10 Codec. I started the HD channels in Window Mode and checked the CPU latency which is low between 20 and 40% on both cores.

All other full HD videos are played very smooth, only HD TV is the problem.

I appreciate any hints for narrowing down the problem!
