Remember if you update drivers, especially ATI, use something like driver sweeper to make sure all the old files and settings are deleted, as these may cause stuttering and not use HW acceleration properly.
And also for the dual amd cpu's see if cool'n'quiet being switched off in the BIOS changes things, if all else fails.
