Bear with me here, as I started using MP only a few days ago. I initially downloaded 0.2.2 version and proceeded to play around with a few skins. There was one skin which allowed you to show/hide subtitles and switch languages etc. with the 'i' button on my MCE remote, but I can't remember which skin had the onscreen button to do that.

I then upgraded to the latest RC3 release, and I still can't seem to find the skin which allows you to do the above. I did remove a couple skins from the MP dir. I just want to make sure this feature hasn't been removed in 0.2.3. Is there a way to switch subtitles, short of minimizing MP and manually configuring VSfilter when it's activated and sitting in the system tray?

I have the Hauppauge MCE remote, which does NOT have the 4 colored buttons.

Thanks for any guidance...

Well, as I mentioned, I don't this yellow button. How do you do a show/hide of the subtitles? I swear there was a skin that allowed you to do this.

Monochrome lets you change audio language in .mkv files, i guess it would mean subtitles also can be changed there. havent tried tho.

Ok, thanks for replies. I just want to make sure that it's up to the skin developer to include an icon for subtitle activation and that there are only a couple skins that offer it.

OR, is it the case that most offer it, it just isn't showing up on MY setup because either there are no subtitles to display or I don't have something configured properly?

OK, just to report back on a few things - The little 'balloon' icon in Revision is the subtitle icon, and if VSfilter isn't loaded properly, you don't see the languages of course, so it was a little difficult to spot. This was fixed by loading the filter in MP movies configuration.

This setup worked fine for AVI files with external subs, however, not with embedded MKVs. Enabling and disabling the subtitles did not work. The reason is because the VSfilter is loaded by Haali's as well as by MP, creating 2 instances of VSfilter. This could be seen by right clicking on the green arrow and seeing 2 sets of show/hide subtitles. I corrected this problem by setting the autoload VSfilter in Haali's config to 'no', thereby letting only MP load Vsfilter.

I have changed the skin to Blackmyst Wide and when I played a DivX.avi file in MP the subtitles didn't show. Can it be that this is a skin related problem? With mediaplayer classic it works fine!
