Subtitle problem (1 Viewer)

I have a big problem...

I use CCCP as codec pack.

The problem is that if I enable subtitle on MKV files in MediaPlayer the AVI files won't work...

If I disable the subtitle on MKV files the AVI files works fine.

The question is:

Which codec pack should I use to be able to view subtitles on both MKV and AVI files without having to change the settings all the time.

Personally I have had nothing but troubles with "Codec Packs" I have not tried the "Stand Alone Filters for Media Portal" pack so I don't know anything about it.

What I do however has worked fine and I can play just about anything I throw at it including subtitles.

What I install:

ffdshow
coreavc
hali media splitter

Thats it. coreavc handles h.264 ffdshow does everything else. As long as the subtitles have the same name it all just works.

tester2k7: I read about the Stand Alone Filters For Media Portal but in the description it says:

Subtitles support:
AVI + subtitles - supported
MKV/MOV/MP4 + subtitles - not supported, you need put subtitles inside MKV by MKVmerge
If you want to change color of MKV/MOV/MP4 subtitles, you need to do it in MediaPortal.

Liquidtouch: I'm going to try yours, what version of ffdshow do you use?

I just rebuilt my system by cannibalizing my old desktop. In this setup I used this version of FFDshow and Haali Media Splitter gets installed when I install CoreAVC. I am not sure the version of those 2 programs. Its at home and I am at work. I have not yet tried a mkv file with subtitles on the new build so perhaps there is something else... If i can find a file to test with I will report back.
