This is the current Plugin folder structure:
Automation
EPG
Games
Input
Others
Playback
TV
Video
Web
I propose creating the following new folders:
EPG/TV
Video/Movies
Audio/Radio
Utilities
PIM
Move all items under <TV> folder to the new <EPG/TV> folder.
Move all items under <EPG> folder to the new <EPG/TV> folder.
Move all items under <Video> folder to the new <Video/Movies> folder.
Move all items under <Playback> folder to the new <Audio/Radio> folder.
Then I ask to remove the following folders:
EPG
Playback
TV
Video
And I would ask that the files in <Others> folder be moved as shown here:
Asus SPresso ---move to: <Input>
C.All ---move to: <Input>
EasyApps ---move to: <Automation>
File Explorer ---move to: <Utilities>
FritzBox Call Monitor --- ?Should this be here since there is an update?
FritzBox.CM *Update* ---move to: <Input>
LCDSmartie plugin ---move to: <Input>
MediaLan ---move to: <Utilities>
MPBlue PPC client ---move to: <Input>
MusicShare Watcher ---move to: <Utilities>
My Burner ---move to: <Utilities>
My DVDs ---move to: <Utilities>
My Explorer ---move to: <Utilities>
My Films (ANT database Importer) ---move to: <Video/Movies>
My FM Radio ---move to: <Audio/Radio>
My Lyrics Plugin ---move to: <Audio/Radio>
My Recipes ---leave in: <Others>
My Status ---move to: <Utilities>
MyPlanner ---move to: <PIM>
MyRefresh ---move to: <Utilities>
Netflix Manager ---move to: <Video/Movies>
Xbox Media Center - MediaPortal Integration ---leave in: <Others>
XMM Importer ---move to: <Video/Movies>
Finally, in the <Others> folder the following files should then be moved as shown here:
My PodCasts ---move to: <Audio/Radio>
Stocks/Shares Plugin ---move to: <Other>
That would leave us with the following plugin folder structure with associated files [x] in each folder:
Automation [5]
EPG/TV [13]
Games [4]
Input [16]
Video/Movies [6]
Web [6]
Audio/Radio [4]
Utilities [8]
PIM (Personal Information Manager) [1]
Others [3]
(Note I have one less since FritzBox.CM is *Updated* doesn't that mean we shouldn't need the original? Confusing!)
It would take us from nine folders to ten folders. But more importantly I believe it would help in organizing the
plugins (and associated support files) into folders which should be easier to recognize and manage. You may ask if it is necessary? Well, look at it from a new user. Even ask a user who has been involved with MP for over a year - is it easy to find a particular plugin? This all started when I found that there where more plugins in the <Others> folder than any folder. So it became apparent htat people were just dumping plugins into the <Others> folder because it wasn't easy to figure out where it should go.
Is this a perfect structure? I'm sure it isn't but I'll accept any constructive suggestions with a solution or improvement. Or if the admin says it is too much work then I guess I'll drop it.
