This may be possible, but if it is, I haven't found out how yet. at least not easily.

Here's my situation. The Daily Show runs at around about 10:30 every tuesday-friday night, and at about 12:30 every tuesday to friday afternoon.

I only want to record the evening showing as they afternoon one is a repeat of the previous nights show. So how do I schedule this.

Every day at this time records sat-mon nights as well, and records whatever is there, why does the scheduler not check to see if the program name matches the schedule?

Record every time on this channel records both showings.

Every day at this time should check to ensure that the program that it is recording is the program I want? Should it not?

Thinking about it now I could get it to do what I want by going through and manually scheduling the recording each day and asking it to record every week, but thats a really roundabout way to do something that should be simple.

Had a brief look. Looks like a good idea. Strange that the current my tv plugin isnt as featured....

I really have to agree with you. Compared to ForTheRecord the inbuilt scheduler is really not very good at all. I really hope that this is one of the first things they start working on when MP 1.0 is released and we get out of feature-freeze.

Just a simple: "Check title before recording starts" and "Record program with title x within timeframe y" would be amazing to have. Sometimes shows airing gets changed and even though it may only be 10 minutes, it gets screwed up by MP, because it locks itself to recording at a given time, no matter what is on.

There are two guys (maybe more) working on the 4TR - wich is only providing the scheduling logic. Scheduling logic is only a really small part of the whole TVE3. Our team has only few people working on the whole TVE3 so there is just not enough resources to add all nice bells and wistles.

You should be happy that some outside people have had enough free time to provide 4TR for free :)

...for my own use the "record always on this channel" + "single shot record" are 95% what I need, so at least I have no big plans for the rules based scheduling (as there is lot of other work to be done also). Of cource the rules based scheduling would be nice to have, but its useles if you havent got stable foundation for it.

I think a "simple" improvement would be (as mentioned above) to just check the name of the original item scheduled to record, and the name of the item it will record, and if its different then look for the program within X minutes. I guess this check needs to be done any time the EPG updates.

Personally though i'm lucky, i've always had perfect recordings, I guess the EPG is pretty spot on in the UK!?
