    Hi,

    I would like to see a build in support for the X10 remote with the number P/N: 2002 9725 (see picture) because it's a very good and cheap (<10€) remote for Mediaportal. I made a XML for it, actually overwriting Medion X10. Maybe you can add an additional radio button for it as made for FireFly, ATI and Medion.

    :D

    I'm tempted by this remote as well..

    besides the RF (which is good), what about important stuff like

    1) Will it start a suspended PC ?
    2) backlit buttons ?
    3) build quality ?

    #1 is mandatory I think.

    Hi,

    i'm not sure in general if this remote can start a suspended PC. In my case it does not. But if you are pressing the On/Off button on the remote while the PC is send to sleep (suspend to RAM) it wakes up. In my case it does not wake up a hibernated PC. But the LED on the receiver is blinking while pressing On/Off button, so i can't give a general answer.

    The buttons have no light. Just the OK button is illuminated while you are pressing it (the blue light on the photo)

    The quality is okay, i use it heavily some 1 1/2 year i guess. I still can read all buttons, but the silver color is beginning to slowly disappear. I even have some scratches on it ^^ but in deed i'm wondering that there are so few ;-).
    The remote from my old receiver i used nearly the same time, was totally destroyed after the same time.

    So the short answer:

    1) Waking up from S3 works
    Waking up from hibernated PC (in my case) does not work (Gigabyte GA-MA78-S2H)

    2) No backlit buttons

    3) Build qualitiy is okay i think!

    The price for me was 7,95€ @ Pollin

    Thanks for the reply.

    Generally x10 based remotes are not working when it comes to starting a suspended PC, either from standby or from hibernation.

    So in your case, it seems to work when using the remote to turn on a suspended PC (RAM sleep mode).

    If this is the case, then it's ok for me. standby does not use much watt as is a lot snappier to start than from hibernation.

    And you are absolutely sure that your htpc is suspended to RAM ?
    No running cpu fans, HD's sleeping etc.

    sorry for being paranoid here :)

    what OS are you using ?
    and what x10 drivers ?

    8 eur does seem like a bargain.

    I can't or let me say don't want to give you a 100% gurantee but i'm pretty sure my PC goes to RAM sleep.
    I opened my PC to have a look at the CPU fan and it's definetly off (i risked my finger for you ;-) ). The HDDs are off for sure, because they are the only thing i can hear from my HTPC when it's on.

    I use Windows 7 (64bit) and this drivers:
    ftp://ftp.x10.com/pub/applications/drivers/x10drivers_x64.exe

    If i can find my PowerMeter i will do a measurment when i send it to standby.

    Thanks.

    No need to do the powermeter thingie :) hehe.

    Maybe it comes down to the USB root hub settings, found in device manager.

    On the "power management" tab you will find the "allow this device to wake the computer" setting.

    What is your status of this setting ?

    All my rigs have this greyed out somehow.

    my ATI remote wonder (also a x10 device, old) does not wakeup any of my PC's.

    usb mouse, and usb keyb. is capable of this though.

    Hi!
    All my USB-Root-Hubs have the same value, "Gerät kann den Computer aus dem Ruhezustand aktivieren" is greyed out as you said.
    But the X10 thing is found under the category USB-Controller as X10 USB Wireless Transceiver (ACPI-compilant)
    if i look into the Details and Energydata i find this:

    Aktueller Energiestatus:
    D0
    Energiekapazität:
    0000007F
    PDCAP_D0_SUPPORTED
    PDCAP_D1_SUPPORTED
    PDCAP_D2_SUPPORTED
    PDCAP_D3_SUPPORTED
    PDCAP_WAKE_FROM_D0_SUPPORTED
    PDCAP_WAKE_FROM_D1_SUPPORTED
    PDCAP_WAKE_FROM_D2_SUPPORTED

    Energiestatuszuordnungen:
    S0 -> D0
    S1 -> D2
    S2 -> D2
    S3 -> D2
    S4 -> D2
    S5 -> D3

    Tranlsation to this cryptic things

    So i guess it should wake up the PC from all sleep modes but S5!?

    As a comparison here are my current values for the x10 driver (ATI remote).

    Code:
    Current power state:
    D0

    Power capabilities:
    0000005D
    PDCAP_D0_SUPPORTED
    PDCAP_D2_SUPPORTED
    PDCAP_D3_SUPPORTED
    PDCAP_WAKE_FROM_D0_SUPPORTED
    PDCAP_WAKE_FROM_D2_SUPPORTED

    Power state mappings:
    S0 -> D0
    S1 -> D2
    S2 -> D2
    S3 -> D2
    S4 -> D2
    S5 -> D3

    Also found this nice description of the various S0-S5 modes:
    Difference between S1 and S3 standby mode? - The Green Button

    I guess I just have to grab one of those remotes and never look back again :)

    I think its worth a try :) and be sure to activate ACPI Wake up from USB in the bios...

    In deed a read again and PDCAP_WAKE_FROM_D2_SUPPORTED means that the receiver will wake up after an D2 mode sleep. It does not mean that it can wake up the system from D2... nevertheless for me it's working ;-)
