Hi. It is, but how long? They are working on a new API that only can be used with username and password. So it looks as if everyone who uses a program/plugin that relies on data delivered by TVDB will be forced to register at TVDB and enter the credentials in plugin... By the way, TheMovieDB series database is growing rapidly. In meantime I have a lot of series that are available on TMDB but not on TVDB (some are not entered some not allowed there). There are many ways to generate those nfo and all (or nearly all) of them are grabbing fanart too, most often from various sources. As example my own program MKV-Buddy is grabbing Fanart from TVDB and fanart.tv as most often only one source did not deliver all kind of fanart that is wanted (e.g. clearart is not available on TVDB, season poster are not available on fanart.tv).. You can use tMM, Ember, MKV-Buddy,... and even Kodi (if you like) to generate those .nfo... And as an backup it should/could be possible to write the MPTVSeries DB into .nfo format to preserve e.G. personal modifications (description, sort-title or similar)... That's how my series folders are looking: You can see the various types of fanart, the .nfo and the season folder (Staffel is German for season) And this is the view inside a season folder: here is the season poster and one .nfo and a thumb for every episode... With this you are completely independent from online grabbing e.g. because of internet connection issues, TVDB being down or similar. And as all videos will have a nfo with 100% exact matches there never will be any failure while importing into your HTPC database...
