There seems to be a lot of threads that end along the lines of "please collect logs and system information".

Would a support ticket generator be useful? I was thinking it could inspect the system information (which includes USB devices, PCI devices etc.), go off and collect logs, and do all the donkey work. A user could then just attach a single file to a thread/bug report which would contain all of the commonly requested info.
What do people think, specifically developers or support people?
