supported Tuner card? (1 Viewer)

Hi All,

I'm considering installing the Media Portal, but I can't tell if my TV tuner card is supported. I have a T507 TV Tuner card (internal built into my Lenovo computer) made by Yuan High-Tech Development Co Ltd. I can't tell if it has BDA drivers. I tried googling around for this information, but I didn't find anything.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Dr Julie,

AFAIK If the card works in Windows Mediacenter, then it will work in Mediaportal (MP). Basically any card that supports BDA drivers will work. There is no configuration to get the card to work in MP. Just install MP and if the card is (automatically) displayed in the TV Server Configuration, then you ready to go! So you may as well install MP and see if it works.

I've been using MP for about 6 years and it is by far the best media center out there. So even if your card doesn't work, you could just pick up a dual tuner that supports BDA drivers and be amazed at what MP offers! I say dual tuner because you want to be able to watch one channel whilst recording another.

Yes, Windows Media Center works with this tuner. Windows Media Center has been giving me a lot of problems not starting up when I set it to. I'm seriously considering switching, but I want to make sure it's going to work with my system first. I just hope that the Media Portal doesn't suffer the same problem if the problem is with the computer timer not the program.

I have been thinking about a dual tuner. Is there a brand you particularly like?

Sorry for the delay.
Really any tuner that supports your area. As you are in the US you need NTSC support. There is whole page devoted to tuners on this site.
I do NOT recommend Dvico tuners though as I have had 2 and they are nothing but trouble :-(

If you can find one with FM tuner support, you may even get FM radio in MP
