Looks promising... could be that the 802.1g is actually a firmed down 802.1n... could be even better....

As for the connections to Mediaportal, in theory if it supported TV streaming over RTSP then it could be done. It states that it has support for UPnP AV 2.0 which has specs for TV channels and live tv broadcasts over RTSP, but MP doesn't currently support UPnP so don't hold your breath.

Anybody with one of these care to tinker and see what TV streaming protocol it uses ?

I could be tempted to get one just for fun.

Also ported that it uses the uTorrent code implementation recently purchased by Bittorrent for file sharing. Just in case anyone cares.

Keep an eye on it and see how it progresses, but I am in agreement. The number of these set-top boxes are likely to increase in the next year or so, with xbox360 and apple TV (US only i think) out there. Would be good if MP could be on of the compatable back end servers to the furture digital home.

I've looked at these STB and AppleTV and others. What does this get you verses spending the money on a small PC (with MP client software on it) next to your TV and you can have whatever plugins are developed on your TV compared to a limited number of apps on your TV with these devices? Just curious - no flaming arrows please.

It´s not the same amount of money and it is designed to be quiet and easy to install for most people - not just those who knows their way around computers and probably has less power consumption.

And for me personally it would be a great thing for my second TV in the bedroom where I am not as eager to spend the same amount of money - and if I could easily stream TV from my HTPC then I would save money on another sat receiver.

Plugin support actually don't matter so much if the "Media Station" has a few but working features (in my preference order):
    1) Photo Album
    2) DVD player
    3) Movie file player
    4) Weather forecast
    5) Video On Demand
    6) Digital TV

These STB:s provides almost all this, as Mediaportal.
I like Mediaportal better and already got a HTPC so would be stupid to not use it.
But my Technotrend Premium sat card is not supportd by MP so I use Dreambox for digital TV.

But I want something "complete" for my bedroom TV too, without spendig to much and these STB:s could provide that.
And I have friends and family that also wans this functionaliy but they almost can't switch a computer on and I rather not provide them with support all days long.
