Surround Sound Issue (1 Viewer)

I am having a problem getting MediaPortal to output sound to 5.1 surround sound speakers when using the internal player for movies and TV shows.

I am able to get the surround sound if I use Cyberlink PowerDVD.
I am able to get surround sound when playing music through MediaPortal.

But when I choose to play a movie I only get sound from the left and right speakers.

I connect my Mediaportal box via HDMI to an amplifier and HDMI from the amplifier to the tv.

I know this is not a problem with cables, windows, amplifier etc as I am able to get the surround sound from PowerDVD and music from within MediaPortal.

I have tried using FFDSHOW, AC3, and Cyberlink Power DVD codecs, but nothing I change seems to make any difference.

Any help would be much appreciated.
