pom: Why don't you do as suggested and provide some logs? Check my footer for instructions - it is very easy and does not hurt ;)

Have you tried playing with your power settings in win7? Sometimes turning off hybrid mode can solve a lot of issues. As above though, give MCE tool a try. When youve got it installed, turn off your sleep settigns in powerscheduler and let mce control your suspend/hibernate completely to see if this solves it.

You could also give IR server suite a try and let it handle your remote control commands. You might have better luck with the powering down mapping with irtrans...

    +1
Directions are in my footer too, they're a sticky on every support forum section, and they're in the wiki too.

    0. Reproduce the problem.
    1. Find the "debug mode" link in the "Team MediaPortal" folder in your start menu and start it.
    2. Select option 3 "export all currently present logs".
    3. Click "proceed" - this will create the zip file that we want on your desktop.
    4. Post the zip file here.

Ok, sorry for the delay. Please see attached log. This is what i did:

    1. Opened MP in debug mode (followed instructions for reporting bugs - so option 1 selected)
    2. Pressed 'My TV' on remote
    3. Selected 'Turn on TV'
    4. Played TV for 10 secs or so
    5. Stopped TV
    6. Pressed Power button on remote
    7. Screen fades, looks like entering suspend (but doesn't)
    8. Waited circa 1 minute just to make sure
    9. Pressed green button on remote to wake up MP
    10. MP now on Home screen, indicating it was always running in background and swicthed frm TV menu to Home when i pressed button
    11. Close MP

Please let me know if you find anything. I haven't looked yet myself. I also haven't tried messing with Win 7 power settings - i will check that SP1 installation didn't change anything.

In your mediaportal logs. if you look at the line where you requested sleep mode:

    2011-10-23 09:30:53.656200 [Info.][MPMain(1)]: Main: Exit requested

...youll notice that at that time (according to your tvserver.log file) your tvserver is grabbing the epg:

    2011-10-23 09:30:16.398200 [(14)]: EPG: grabber initialized for 3 transponders..

I think this is what is stopping your system from going into full sleep mode. As for how you prevent epg grabbing from stopping sleep, im not exactly sure but i think theres an option somewhere in tvserver config. Maybe you can set your epg to wake up and grab at a certain time rather than just when you start your system?

eetaylog - thanks for the tip, i'll look into this. Would you expect the PC to enter sleep when EPG grabbing has finished? (because it doesn't!)

It should do though im sure i had this issue at some point and it was definately the epg grabbing that was stopping sleep. Are you sure that epg has stopped grabbing when you say it doesnt go to sleep after its finished?

Installing mce standby tool will actually give you a list of the processes that are running in the background and preventing sleep. Give it a try.

    No i haven't....

I've installed PowerScheduler++ and turned on hybrid sleep in Windows 7. Shuts down properly now in response to the remote press ;-)
