Hi all,

I couldn't find any info on this so here goes.

I have a HTPC connected to my amp with S/PDIF and it is also connected to my tv-set using an analog cable. I just installed 0.2.3.0 final and got everything working (great work dev team!! :). I use and configured MPA for both My Videos and DVD. I never got video and audio to work well with WinDVD, but now with MPV and MPA it does!

Normally I only use analog settings to watch recorded tv and for my kid to watch Pingu and such. It is very convenient not to haveto turn on the amp for this.
But when I use the amp I want the audio to be digital via S/PDIF. It is totally ok for the S/PDIF to never turn itself off, since I turn off the amp itself anyway. But when I select S/PDIF the analog sound totally dies :-(

How do I solve this?
Is there a way to switch between using S/PDIF setting and using analog setting for audio from within MP with a click of a button?

the problem is, its either audio over analog OR spdif pass-throught.

my dream would be that some soundcard/driver would allow to output AC3/DTS over SPDIF and at the same time on the analog stereo outlet.....

an option inside MediaPortal to change the audiocodec setting (i.e. MPA) from analog output to spdif passthrought would surely be nice.
i would like to have that too.....

one way around the whole thing is to use HDMI to connect the PC with the TV-Set.
then you have audio from the TV-Set speakers.
these TV's have (most of the time) an spdif-out which you then connect with your DD-receiver.

My HTPC outputs both analog and digital audio at the same time (Asus P5B-E/SoundMAX integrated audio/nVidia Pure Video) independent of the source material. Normally I use digital, but can select analog on the receiver if I want to.

i my case thats impossible, because i have to feed the spdif of my onboard sound and the ati hdmi sound device. (two independent sound devices!)

that would be a solution for me if i could also change the sound renderer.
i know that i can change the renderer and the used codec within mp in the settings-section, but thats a little bit too "difficult". is there any chance of binding a key on my remote/keyboard or over a submenu-entry when i watch a movie to switch between two sets of codecs/renderer?

or with a windows batch-script?! then i can switch with the myprogramms plugin or bind it with ir blaster...

my Philips TV-Set has an electrical-coax-spdif out to connect it with my 5.1 dolby system.

so the LCD-TV always feeds my dolby decoder with the signal from the currently tuned channel/source.
    yours does not have this?

my lcd tv has an optical output wich delivers dd 5.1 when i use the integrated dvb-t tuner, but all other output (also via hdmi-input) will be stereo-only... thats officially stated by samsung... =(

actually when i set up my htpc to send dd 5.1 via hdmi my tv isnt able downsample the signal... therefore i have to switch both in mp: the sound renderer and the codec (set to stereo downsampling)... =(

i just wanted to ask if there is some developing in mp in that direction... (sets of various codec/renderer setting with easy switching).

    thanks for your answer

as you can see in the newly added "Status overview" on the homepage, both TV-Server and MediaPortal are in "FeatureFreeze". this means that no new features get added. only bugfixing.
