    Hi,

I need hints on a (not so) small change on my htpc since I am planning to switch my System-Hdd to a SSD.

    Here is my system

    ASUS M2A-VM HDMI (690G) with SB600-onboard-Raid
1x500GB Samsung HDD IDE as System Disc
2x1.5TB Samsung HDD SATA as Storage Discs in RAID 1 Mode

Now I want to replace the System Disc with my freshly bought Crucial RealSSD C300 64GB with imaging the HDD to the SSD. My plan so far is

    - to insert the SSD on a unused SATA-Slot
    - image the content from HDD to SSD using Acronis True Image
    - set the SSD as boot device (does this work within Acronis True Image?)
    - remove the hdd
    - have a working system after reboot :p

Here comes the but: I once change some cables within my htpc to rearrange the case and after that it showed me a raid error und it had to rebuild (which took several hours where I didnt know if I had data loss or not, but it was all fine after that). But I still don't want to have this situation again.

So, do you have any hints for me, what is the best and safest way to get this rearrangement going? I am happy for every notice here.

    Regards

    The Stig

AW: Switch to SSD within a raid 1

Just an update: Didnt work as expected since SSD won't get recognized on RAID-Mode. I had to switch to AHCI and am now using the HDD's in Windows Raid Mode.
